Program Background:
The City was awarded $30,000 to establish a facade program through Lane County’s Community and Economic Development Grant. Creswell’s Façade Improvement Program is designed to enhance the city's downtown streetscape by aiding building owners in constructing façade improvements on their storefronts. The main objective of the program is to enhance local streetscape, encourage pedestrian traffic and improve the appearance of existing building's Façades in our Downtown.
Program Overview:
The Creswell Façade Improvement Grant Program is a matching grant program designed to beautify downtown, supporting our Downtown goals! The City can award grants up to $10,000, however, applicants are encouraged to propose projects between $3,000 and $6,000 to remain competitive.
The Main Objectives of the Grant are:
To invest in the aesthetic appearance of existing buildings and businesses located downtown; and,
To further enhance the downtown streetscape and encourage pedestrian traffic.
Eligible Applicants:
The following are the requirements for eligible applicants that can apply to receive grant funding:
Property owners, business owners or tenants within Creswell’s downtown (if applicable, with property owner consent).
Properties owners that have commercial and/or customer facing operations.
Properties that are within compliance with the development and municipal code.
Eligible Improvements:
Funds may be used towards façade improvements on buildings within Creswell’s downtown. This includes but is not limited to exterior projects such as:
Exterior painting.
Masonry repairs or cleaning.
Repair/replacement of windows or doors.
Repair/replacement of canopies or window awnings.
Repair/replace exterior lighting attached to a building or illuminating sign.
Repair or construct entryway.
Removal of old exterior signage and installation of new exterior signage.
Mural development and implementation.
Other improvements as approved.
Grant Timeline (subject to change):
Initial Application Period: January 12, 2026 - March 30, 2026
During this time potential applicants will be able to review application materials, ask city staff questions, and gather required materials for their application. Applications are due at noon (12 p.m.)
Application Review Period: March 30, 2026- May 01, 2026
During this period staff and the Grant Review Committee will look over all applications at once, staff will ensure that an application is valid and it will be passed to the next step of review. Those in the committee will then use the review criteria to score and rate all the applications.
Notification of Award: May 04, 2026
Staff will notify all applicants of their status and will begin the process of awarding the grant to the selected applicants.
How to Apply

Schedule a meeting with the Planning Department to review applicability and discuss questions.
Review all downtown design and standards.
Prepare budgets with substantiation for the proposed facade improvement.
Submit application.
