WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK! The City is pleased to announce that we have received a $20,000 grant from DLCD to help fund an Economic Opportunities Analysis. The Analysis will inventory our existing employment land and determine whether or not we have enough land to account for Creswell’s next 20 years. Christina was nominated by Councilor Nick Smith and received her remaining three votes from Councilor Staci Holt, Council President Alonzo Costilla, and Mayor Dave Stram. This is a historic election for the City of Creswell, as Christina will be the first of Creswell’s unhoused population to serve in a public office. Christina will be sworn in at the January 8, 2024 meeting and looks forward to serving the people of Creswell!

City Council Meeting Recap December 11th, 2023
City Council Vacancy Appointment The Creswell City Council interviewed three prospective candidates for the vacant council position: Christina Allen, Clark Kent, and Kevin Prociw. Councilor Osborn nominated Kevin Prociw, Councilor Smith nominated Christina Allen, and Councilor Clark nominated Clark Kent. The first round of voting resulted in 3 votes for Allen and 3 votes for Prociw.
City Council Vacancy Appointment For the second round, Councilor Osborn nominated Prociw and Councilor Smith nominated Christina Allen. The vote was once again 3 for Allen and 3 for Prociw. For the third round, Counsilor Osborn nominated Kevin Prociw and Councilor Smith nominated Christina Allen. In this round, Allen gained the 4 votes needed for appointment from Councilor Smith, Councilor Holt, Council President Costilla, and Mayor Stram. Christina Allen will be sworn in at the January 8th, 2024 meeting. Her appointment is a historic moment for the City of Creswell, as she will be the first member of Creswell’s unhoused population to hold public office.
City Council Agenda Items Councilor Osborn moved to approve Resolution No. 2023-22, which would appropriate funds within the street fund. The motion was seconded by Councilor Smith and passed by the council. Councilor Costilla moved to approve Ordinance 560, which would amend the Creswell Comprehensive Plan to implement the Local Wetlands Inventory. The motion was seconded by Councilor Smith and passed by the council. Councilor Osborn moved to approve Resolution 2023-23, which continues the moratorium on development pursuant to ORS 197.505 to 197.540 based on limited sanitary sewer capacity as ordered by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. The motion was seconded by Council President Costilla and passed by the council.
Executive Session:  City Manager  Evaluation At 8:17pm, the City Council held their closed Executive Session in which they reviewed and evaluated City Manager Amberg’s performance over the course of the past calendar year. The Council returned to their regular meeting at 9:06 pm. Council President Costilla announced that the Council is pleased with the work of the City Manager and will retain her for another year. The majority of the Council felt that a merit increase was warranted; however, the City Manager declined the offer.
