What are the Rules About Parking on the Street? Cars & Trucks Per Creswell Municipal Code 10.10.070, cars and trucks may park in the street for 30 consecutive days before being required to move. Recreational Vehicles Per Creswell Municipal Code 10.10.070, recreational vehicles may park in the street for 72 consecutive hours before being required to move. Creswell City Council Recap. February 10th, 2025 regular meeting
The city council meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and a public forum focused on the Second Street Project. Three residents expressed opposition to the project. One objected to paying for the sidewalk, citing the city's neglect of existing sidewalks as well as concerns over the cost. Another questioned the size of the new sidewalk and its impact on her property. The third resident shared that he and his mother-in -law are on fixed incomes, suggested the city seek grants to fund the project and proposed making Second Street a one-way to alleviate parking issues. The mayor proclaimed February 9th-15th, 2025, as National FBLA Week, recognizing Creswell Middle School's FBLA chapter for their success in regional competitions. The council discussed various administrative matters, including bills and city services. Councilor Holt raised questions about city expenses, including charges from the Oregon Association of Water Utilities and the purchase of iPads for the City Council. The sheriff's report followed, with Sergeant Speldrich detailing last month’s calls for service, including an ongoing burglary investigation and an increase in deputy activity. The radar sign for traffic monitoring faced technical issues, but it’s being addressed.
The council then moves to the appointment of a new city council member. Norma Jean Osborn, a former council member with experience, speaks about her past involvement and commitment to addressing city challenges, including homelessness. Alan Dukes, a new applicant, shares his background in the Air Force and as a driver manager, highlighting his desire to represent underheard community voices. Both candidates are interviewed about their qualifications, time commitment, and goals. After discussion, the council appoints Alan Dukes to fill the vacant council seat. The council also approves the annexation of 3.14 acres into the city, with concerns about potential low-density housing and apartment developments. The annexation is approved, with future development subject to public hearings. A $1 million hazard mitigation grant for relocating the city's water distribution line is also approved. A proposal for improvements to Second Street, including the creation of a Local Improvement District (LID) to fund the sidewalk project, is discussed. The council considers options to reduce costs for property owners, and a public hearing will be held to gather further input. The meeting concluded with the council's approval of various agreements, including an intergovernmental agreement for the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program and a new meeting schedule.
The Creswell Park and Tree Advisory Board will be working in the Pollinator Garden in Garden Lake Park tomorrow morning from 10am to 11am. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Creswell Heroes #8 Ellyn Mole RAIN Venture Catalyst and Owner of Ellyn Amalia Designs Ellyn Mole is a key figure in Creswell, balancing her roles as a graphic design business owner and Venture Catalyst with RAIN Catalysts. Since moving to Creswell in 2021, Ellyn has embraced the community, opening her design studio and working with RAIN to support local businesses. Her efforts helped revive the South Valley Farmers Market, bringing it to Creswell with three successful markets this summer in Harry Holt Memorial Park. Through her graphic design business, Ellyn has worked on signage for Garden Lake Park and No Smoking signs for local parks and schools. She’s also a volunteer Planning Commissioner and part of the team behind the new Creswell Main Street Program, which aims to enhance the town's landscape. Ellyn’s work supports local small businesses by offering resources, insights, and design services to help them thrive. Her volunteer efforts, paired with her professional contributions, reflect her deep commitment to Creswell’s growth and sense of community. Inspired by those around her, Ellyn continues to make a positive impact, shaping Creswell into a vibrant, welcoming place to live and work.
