Creswell Heroes. Laura Rariden, Creswell Clubhouse Executive Director. For the past 20 years, Laura Rariden has been a driving force in Creswell, helping shape the lives of local kids and families through her work with Creswell Clubhouse. What started as a tiny after-school program with a $300 budget has grown into a vibrant nonprofit serving over 150 children and teens every year. As Executive Director, Laura has expanded Clubhouse to offer everything from arts and science activities to sports, service projects, and homework help while keeping the program affordable and accessible. Thanks to grants and community donations, Clubhouse offers scholarships and charges rates 30% lower than most others. In 2021, Laura secured a partnership with the City of Creswell to move into the Cobalt Activity Center, allowing even more room to grow. The building now features a community garden and a new playground, open to all. Laura also built lasting partnerships with the University of Oregon, Creswell Library, and many local groups. giving young people opportunities to volunteer, work, and find their path. What keeps her going? “The kids,” Laura says. “They’re kind, energetic, and ready to dig in—literally and figuratively. And our families are just as special. I feel lucky to be part of it.”
